Martha Bakerjian Author of: Puglia Travel Guide Home Base: Tuscany, Italy - California, USA Interests: Food, Travel Martha Bakerjian has traveled extensively in Italy for almost 30 years and has visited every region. Her first Italian adventures included several summers living in Sardinia where she shopped and cooked for a group of archeologists, |
one summer on an archaeological project in Puglia, and one summer studying Italian in Perugia. Sardinia and Puglia still remain two of her favorite regions. Martha produces the Italy Travel site on About.com and wrote a Puglia Travel Guide App. She has a home in the Lunigiana region of northern Tuscany where she lives about half the year, using it as a base to explore Italy. Lunigiana is a rural part of Tuscany, less touristed than the central part. This hilly area, at the base of the Apuan Alps, is dotted with medieval villages and remains of more than 100 castles. Martha enjoys walking and exploring the area as well as discovering its food traditions with the help of her neighbors. |
