Mozzarella & Prosciutto Stuffed Pizza Dough Christmas Tree

Ingredients

For 8 Person(s)

For the tree:

  • 2 rolls Pillsbury pizza crust, or 1 lb pizza dough
  • 1 pound bocconcini mozzarella approximately, *you will need 29 pieces to make the Christmas tree
  • 1/2 lb prosciutto slices, torn into pieces
  • 1 large egg , beaten
  • Dried oregano as desired
  • Garlic powder as desired
  • Grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese as desired
  • Cherry tomatoes and rosemary sprigs for decor

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees 
  2. Unroll the pizza dough and roll it out on a clean surface using a rolling pin to make it an even layer.
  3. Using a knife or a pizza cutter, cut out squares about 3x3 inches. You will need 29 pieces of dough to make the tree.
  4. Using a paper towel, dry off the bocconcini. Wrap each one in prosciutto and enclose in the dough, rolling to seal the edges.
  5. Arrange the balls on a parchment lined baking sheet into a tree shape
  6. Brush with the beaten egg, and then sprinkle generously with oregano, garlic powder and cheese. 
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the tree has developed some color.
  8. Broil for 2 minutes for some extra browning.
  9. Decorate and enjoy!
